First edition

On May 4, 2018, the Technical Center for the Wood and Furniture Industry (CETIBA) announced the first edition of a furniture design competition at the headquarters of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce, and Handicrafts (UTICA).

In this edition, seven winners received their awards in the presence of Mr. Slim FERIANI, Minister of Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Mr. Taoufik ABBES, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Industry and SMEs, Mr. Khaled SELLAMI, member of the UTICA Executive Board, Mr. Omar BOUZOUADA, Director General of the Technical Center for the Wood and Furniture Industry (CETIBA), Mr. Mhamed BEN HSAN, representative of the National Federation of Wood and Furniture (FNBA), Mr. Arnaud GODVIN, Director of the Nantes Higher School of Woodworking (ESB), industrialists and representatives of the woodworking and furniture sector, public institutions, and media representatives.

This edition was organized in collaboration with the National Federation of Wood and Furniture (FNBA) and in partnership with its counterparts in France, the Nantes School of Woodworking (ESB), and Spain, the Technological Institute of Metalworking, Furniture, Wood, Packaging, and Related Industries (AIDIMME).

The theme of this first edition in 2018 was “Reinventing children's furniture.”

The event was marked by the participation of 60 students and pupils from 16 institutions, including schools of engineering, design, graphic arts, architecture and specialized training centers, both public and private, as well as media, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Industrialists.

The CETIBA has announced the winners, who were revealed during a ceremony on:

  • 1st prize Omeima ABID (CSFMBM Monastir) – Full coverage of a week-long training course at the Ecole Supérieure du Bois in Nantes, offered by ESB (France) + a professional toolkit and templates worth €495 & a weekend for two at a 5-star hotel offered by BLUM North Africa.
  • 2nd prize Mariem BEN AMMAR (ISAM SFAX) – A check for 4,000 dinars donated by MEUBLATEX.
  • 3rd prize Dalel BANNENI (ISAM SFAX) – A check for 4,000 dinars donated by INTER MEUBLES.
  • 4th prize Boulbeba BOUJELBEN (ISAM SFAX) – A check for 3,000 dinars donated by MEUBLES MEZGHANI.
  • 5th prize Mariem WALHA (ISAM SFAX) – A check for 3,000 dinars donated by the FNBA.
  • 6th prize Mohamed Ali BOUASSIDA (ESAD TUNIS) – A check for 3,000 dinars donated by CETIBA.
  • 7th prize Rahma BEN ATITALLAH (ISAM SFAX) – A monthly scholarship of 200 DT for 9 months offered by INTER MEUBLES.
  • Special Award Wissal DAMMEK (ENIS SFAX) – A one-year scholarship for an engineer to complete a Master's 2 degree in CANADA after completing a Master's 1 degree at ENIS in renewable materials, offered by ENIS.
  • Special Jury Prize The Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts of Sfax with – Free access for one year to the AIDIMME library of innovative materials, offered by AIDIMME (Spain).
